About Benjamin Kasulke
Ben Kasulke is an award-winning Director and Director of Photography, whose work has screened at multiple film festivals including Toronto, Berlin, Sundance, and Cannes Film Festival Director's Fortnight. His feature film work has been released by A24, IFC Films, Magnolia Pictures, Film District, and The Criterion Collection. He is also a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Cinematography branch, having worked with filmmakers including Lynn Shelton, Guy Maddin, Greta Gerwig, Joe Swanberg, and The Duplass Brothers, to name a few.
In 2006, Ben received the Kodak Vision Award for his cinematography on Lynn Shelton's We Go Way Back from the Slamdance Film Festival; he also lensed the Sundance Special Jury Prize winning Humpday which won the John Cassavetes Award at the 2010 Independent Spirit Awards. After his nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for his work on Megan Griffiths' The Off Hours in 2012, Variety Magazine listed Kasulke among its ‘10 Cinematographers to Watch.’ His feature film credits as a cinematographer include Guy Maddin’s Brand Upon The Brain!, The Forbidden Room, Keyhole, and Seances, Lynn Shelton’s Humpday, Laggies, Touchy Feely, and Your Sister’s Sister, Greta Gerwig and Joe Swanberg’s Nights and Weekends, Colin Trevorrow’s, Safety Not Guaranteed, Megan Griffiths’ The Off Hours, Todd Rohal’s The Catechism Cataclysm and Rat Pack Rat, Robert Schwartzman’s Dreamland and most recently Scott Aukerman’s Between Two Ferns: The Movie. Ben’s television credits include the series “The Heart She Holler” (Adult Swim), “Review” (Comedy Central), “Married” (FX), “There’s… Johnny” (Hulu), “Red Oaks” (Amazon Studios), “M.O.P.Z.” (Adult Swim) and “Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno Live” (Sundance Channel). He also wrote and directed an episode of The Duplass Brothers’ HBO anthology series “Room 104.” Banana Split is Ben Kasulke’s feature directorial debut.
